Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's an island that's in the west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But this is not true. Brugel developed on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but an increase in her height resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inch tall. The moment I outgrew the size of my male companion then I slowed down. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher in high school who pushed her in the direction she needed. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both big and small. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the series and not seen much.
