At 19 years old, she released Here, her first single. The single was praised highly both from listeners and critics. It peaked at number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the most memorable songs of 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks that made it to the top spots on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. It was a special track because, based on her Rap-Up interview she held with many of her listeners were able to identify with her journey of growing to accept themselves as a person and rethinking their beliefs about her. Cara is well-known for including messages on the importance of mental health, kindness and self-love into her songs. Cara's music reflects of her personal struggle in dealing with anxiety and depression. According to an Reuters interview, her album is described as tumultuous yet perfected. She found growth through therapy and encourages other people to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th July 1996. Her parents gave her a guitar when she was only 10-years-old. This sparked her enthusiasm for music. At the age of 13, she started to cover her favourite songs on YouTube a major media platform to show the world that she had the talents and courage to become an aspiring singer. One of the songs Sweater Weather eventually got her noticed by a record company called EP Entertainment which allowed her to create and write music for her.
